2. Set the Start Date on each sheet

Better Habits can hold up to one year of data. Correlation will not work if the Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly sheets are duplicated; we recommend making a copy of the entire spreadsheet each year instead. Consider the start date for each sheet—for instance you may want data from past years in the Yearly sheet.

3. Add your habits to the first column of each sheet

Habits do not copy over from sheet to sheet because they may vary for each time period. Habit names starting with a bracket "[" are headers and will not be tracked.

4. Set goals for habits and the overall percentage of goals you'd like to achieve each period

Goals are optional. Goals must be numbers, and if you enter a number >= your goal, we count it as achieved. You can set a threshold for the minimum percentage of goals you'd like to achieve for each period, and we will color the goal counter a darker shade of green if you reach that threshold.

5. Set the type of data you'd like to record for your habits

You need to specify whether you will record Binary (Yes/No) data, Numerical data, or Textual data for each habit before you can begin entering any data. Goals for Textual habits are not tracked, and Textual habits cannot be correlated with other habits.

Note: Binary habits only accept or 1's or 0's, which mean Yes and No respectively. This allows Binary habits to be correlated with Numerical habits.

6. Our correlation feature determines whether there is a positive/negative relationship between any two of your habits.

Select two habits in the Variable X (cell A2) and Variable Y (cell B2) columns, and our sheet will calculate the correlation between those two habits! Habits must be either binary or numerical.
