2. Enter reference information for your decisions
6
The left section contains fields like the category and time of a decision to help you organize your decisions. To create a category, just type a new category name and it will be added to the category dropdown.

8
3. Follow the decision flow to make a decision
9
Advance through the middle section's decision workflow, from documenting the context/problem all the way to making the decision, recording the expected outcome, and noting your emotional state.
10
Note: Certain columns have notes to provide ideas for how to improve your decision making; for example, we've summarized the WRAP decision framework featured in the book Decisive.

4. Record decision outcomes
13
The right section allows you to quickly label the whether you believe the decision was good or not, as well as summarize what the actual outcome was. It is meant to be populated after the enough time has passed for the decision to be evaluated.
14
Note: Depending on your perspective on decision making (see outcome bias), good decisions can have bad outcomes, and vice versa. Personally, we use hindsight to identify gaps in the decision process, which can become more apparent with bad outcomes, but don't penalize calculated risks/choices.
15
16
5. Reflect on your decisions
17
Better Decisions allows you to accurately recall your rationale and expected outcome for your original decision, and compare that with the actual outcome witihout hindsight bias and other distortions. You can reflect on how a specific decision went as well as how to improve your decisions in the future.

19
6. Consider pairing Better Decisions with Better Predictions
20
Predictions can be inputs to decisions, like predicting investment performance to decide what to invest in, as well as outputs of decisions, such as predicting the consequences of a decision that do not affect the decision itself. We recommend pairing Better Decisions with Better Predictions for optimal decision making. Each prediction in Better Predictions has a unique ID, allowing multiple predictions to be referenced in the same decision or the same prediction to be referenced across multiple decisions, and vice versa.
